SummerSlam has come and gone, and what a wild ride. Night 1 was honestly pretty unnecessary. Night 2, however, was amazing from start to finish. Even if they did try and kill my favorite, Candice LeRae.
If you aren’t following me on X, that’s where I talk PLEs through the entire show. Let’s get into some quick news before we hit my favorite spots.
- The absolute top story is that the PLE deal with Peacock is ending, and they’ll be moving to a new ESPN app next year. It is what it is. Sports streaming absolutely sucks, and the price is going triple for fans to keep up. I do have a Sling subscription, but not one that includes ESPN, and it’ll probably cost me a similar amount to either change my subscription or just add the standalone app. Blah.
- Brock Lesnar made a controversial return to WWE. It was a big moment where he F5’d Cena, but it should have never happened. Whether or not WWE legal cleared him, the man’s name is tarnished and it wasn’t a moment we needed to see. Let another piece of my childhood die; he already had the perfect sendoff by putting Cody over.
- Austin Theory was removed from the WWE internal roster. I’m not sure if he’s injured, or taking time off. I really hope he comes back as a face and gets a solid push.
- Paul Heyman said things with Travis Scott fell apart. Somehow the horrible WrestleMania moment was ruined even further, with no closure ever coming. Fein.
Now let’s get into the week:
One Match
I’m giving this week to Dominik Mysterio vs. Dragon Lee. Looking back through the week, no one match particularly stood out to me. But I’ll take any chance to see more Dominik Mysterio on screen. He should be wrestling every week.
And after next weekend he will be holding both the Intercontinental Championship and the AAA Mega Championship.
One Moment
John Cena teamed with Cody Rhodes to take on Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. What a sentence. During Cody’s entrance, John Cena also climbed the turnbuckles so they could hit the second “woah” together.
It’s great to see Cena having fun again.
One Promo
Charlotte and Alexa continue to be one of the best parts of the shows. Everyone on the internet seems to want them to split up and turn on one another. Meanwhile, I’m just hoping this friendship doesn’t end. They seem to genuinely enjoy working together, and I don’t know if the crowd has ever loved Charlotte the way they do now.
And it means Charly made her return alongside Lilly.
Honorable Mentions
- Becky gave one of her best promos in a long time on Raw. Nikki Bella seems like she’ll be feuding with Becky for a bit. Completely unexpected when I figured Bayley and Becky were going to run it back.
- The Tribal Thief came out adorned with his Shoela Fala, and Roman Reigns got his kicks stolen, again. It’s rough out there
- Blake Monroe exists. Give me her title push! NXT seems to be kind of lost overall.
