Game Updates and Legal Woes
No intro this week, just jack in and rip through these clips with me.
YouTube Creator Raided for Emulation Handhelds
An Italian YouTuber who reviews handheld game systems says he was raided by an Italian “militarized police force.” His videos covered devices like the Retroid Pocket Flip 2, Aya Odin 2 and the Gamesir X2 Pro. These handhelds are typically used to emulate retro video game consoles, and some ship with preloaded microSD cards.
Why This Matters: These are all commercially available products. Reports suggest he may have sold some of the systems after reviewing them. Rather than cracking down on the sales of the handhelds in Italy, authorities went after a content creator.
My Take: It’s unfair to target someone for reviewing ready-made products. Even if he was reselling them, it probably barely covered what he paid for them. It just doesn’t seem right.
Question: Is it fair for a content creator to be in trouble for buying something off the shelf?
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3 Released
The newest update came after CD Projekt Red said that they were done with updates for the original game. The new update adds an AutoDrive mode, more vehicles, photo mode upgrades and more.
Why This Matters: Because Cyberpunk is getting new updates. There’s no New Game+ but quality of life updates keep games feeling fresh.
My Take: I’m just excited. Once I get back to my playthrough, I’ll be keeping an eye out for the new side quests to unlock the new cars. Cyberpunk 2077 is the game I have gotten most into photo mode with. Being able to add more NPCs and change the day and weather sounds incredible.
Question: Are you still playing Cyberpunk 2077?
Quick Bites
Just a few quick hits I want to blow through
- Phasmophobia developer say version 1.0 will completely change the game. I’m looking forward to that, as I play the game a few times a week. While the difficulty can change, the actual hunting and evidence gathering can get a bit repetitive currently.
- There’s a Resident Evil 2 arcade game being playtested. It looks fun but it would be even better if arcades were still around.
- There was a whole Pokemon announcement show. I’m hoping I click more with Legends: Z-A than I did Legends: Arceus.
There’s a lot more news I skipped, so drop me some comments or hit me up on X, @darkstarshady, if you want to continue the conversation.
