I have a bit of an obsession.
It started off with Harley Quinn and Wally the Green Monster. Then came the sisters from Orphan Black. After that I lost track of what exactly happened—suddenly my life was overrun with Funko Pops.
Maybe it’s my slightly addictive personality mixed with a tendency to hyperfixate. Maybe I just don’t like having money.
Things get dangerous when I can cross my love of Funkos with my love of video games.
They may all look the same to some people, but there are definite differences in personality between my seven favorite Pops. And then there’s the three that I would love to be able to own—if the powers that be would create them.
The Pops I Love
1. Mary Jane – Marvel’s Spider-Man

Do I Own It? Yes [x] No [ ]
This isn’t just my favorite gaming pop. It’s my absolute favorite Funko of all time. The Mary Jane in the PS4 game was incredible; she’s probably my favorite iteration of the character. And the Pop? Perfection. She’s got a light dusting of freckles, a camera around her neck and a little Spider-Man plush in her arm. Could she be any more adorable?
2. Ellie – The Last Of Us Part II

Do I Own It? Yes [ ] No [x]
Another PlayStation exclusive game, another amazing pop. This one is on my mental wish list, but I’ll add it to a physical list if anyone wants to send one to me. Ellie is one of my all-time favorite game characters, and her pop is brutal in the best way. The knife. The tattoo. The blood. She’s got character and enough detail to make her stand out on a shelf full of Funkos.
3. V-Female – Cyberpunk 2077

Do I Own It? Yes [x] No [ ]
No list of mine could be complete without including Cyberpunk in some way. I wish Funko had released either a larger variety of looks, or added Cyberpunk options into the customizable Pop creator, but even with just the one look, V is a must-own. She’s badass, her hair looks cool, and having her on my shelf makes my Cyberpunk collection that much more complete. I’ve got the Male V as well, but I’ve enjoyed choosing female characters in games as long as I’ve had the option available.
4. Marcus Fenix – Gears of War

Do I Own It? Yes [x] No [ ]
There are a few versions out there, but just classic Marcus takes the cake. His armor looks great, the Lancer is well detailed, and he’s the star of my favorite series of games. I’ve got a section of my shelf dedicated to Gears of War pops and figures, and his look is so iconic that Funko had no problem creating his image perfectly.
5. Jill Valentine – Resident Evil

Do I Own It? Yes [x] No [ ]
I went out of my way to find this Pop, as she’s one of the most iconic video game characters of all time. And that series just happens to be my other favorite, along with the above-mentioned Gears of War. Her pop goes for ridiculous amounts of money now, so I’m glad to have gotten one when the price wasn’t as steep. Her S.T.A.R.S. uniform is a classic look, and I hope we get more variations down the road. My Resident Evil shelf needs more pops.
6. Vault Boy – Fallout

Do I Own It? Yes [ ] No [x]
I know, I know—I just wrote about how I can’t get into Fallout. But I also said I love the aesthetics and merch, and what’s more iconic than Vault Boy? The pop is simple yet instantly recognizable.
7. Anya Stroud – Gears of War

Do I Own It? Yes [x] No [ ]
This one seems a little more niche. Anya came in a collector’s box for the Gears Pop! Mobile game. And yes, that means I spent money on a collector’s box for a free mobile game that no longer exists. But Anya being part of the box makes it all worth it. Her pop goes perfectly with Marcus, and it’s a piece of Gears history I’m glad to have.
The Pops That Need To Exist
1. Furret – Pokémon
There are so many Pokémon pops that exist. I just want to catch my favorite one!
2. Zucker – Animal Crossing
He’s just a weird little dude with a stick in his head. He’s a literal takoyaki. This little octopus is my favorite villager and I just want to sit him on top of my stack of Switch games.
3. Judy Alvarez – Cyberpunk 2077
Where is Judy? Why don’t we have any new Cyberpunk pops? How can my shelf, or my heart, be complete if V-Female isn’t next to her true love? Please, Funko, I need more Cyberpunk.
