From AEW to NXT, Blake Monroe is done proving herself. Now she’s going to take over the whole damn company
Blake Monroe–formerly Mariah May–signed her NXT contract last night and let the world know that the NXT brand now belongs to her.
“And now that I’m here, this women’s division is all mine,” she said in the middle of the ring. “Because The Glamour raises the bar, turns heads and redefines what it means to be a star.”
Her moment may have been cut short by the arrival of Fatal Influence, but Blake Monroe’s WWE career won’t be short on big moments.
Giulia. Stephanie Vaquer. Jordynne Grace.
Three names that came into NXT and took the brand by storm. Already headline-worthy stars.
Blake Monroe.
One name destined to rise above even them.
The name may be new, but the woman behind is not.
As Mariah May, she wrestled around the world to give the crowds a taste of the star she was always destined to be.
“And it’s no secret, WWE has always been my dream.”
That line came before her declaration, but it wasn’t just a dream. Blake Monroe was destined to make it come true.
Her first WWE tryout didn’t land her a spot on the roster, but she let that strengthen her.
After taking the indies by storm in the U.S. and abroad, her status elevated after debuting in Japan’s Stardom. Aligning with Mina Shirakawa and Xia Brookside, she captured tag team gold as part of Club Venus.
But it was in AEW where she fully stepped into the spotlight.
Starting as Toni Storm’s adoring fan and eventually taking her AEW Women’s World Championship, the two wove a tale too masterfully crafted to reduce down to a paragraph. Their feud culminated with their “Hollywood Ending” match at AEW Revolution on March 9, and it was the perfect conclusion to her time with the company.
Look anywhere you can find the internet wrestling community (IWC) and you’ll find disappointment. Rumors spread for months about where The Glamour would end up; was she merely on vacation or would she jump ship to the WWE?
Her NXT debut on June 3 only highlighted what was said: AEW had to let a generational talent walk away.
Blake Monroe’s WWE debut was inevitable, and she’s going to become one of the best parts of not just the women’s division, but of the company.
Coming in channeling Sabrina Carpenter (“Jacy, have you ever tried this one?” as she hit her across the face), Blake Monroe feels like a throwback to an earlier era in women’s wrestling.
She may not have been entered into the qualifiers for an NXT Women’s Championship match at Evolution 2, but her reign is not a matter of if, but a matter of when.
She’s not just a beautiful face and a glamorous gimmick, The Glamour Blake Monroe is about to take the WWE by storm: in the ring, on the mic and across every screen.
