Each week, WWE throws a lot at us. I already live tweet my reactions and chaotic hopes during the show, so now on top of that I’m going to be writing a once a week post recapping the three standout spots for the week:
One match, one moment and one promo.
This week was difficult to narrow down, between all of the fantastic fatal four ways (seriously Triple H, book like this more often) and absolutely fire segments from all three shows. There’s a lot of good and someone has to be chaotic enough to condense the eight hours into three moments
One Match
This one was probably the hardest to pick. With the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments beginning, we got a lot of wrestling handed to us. The match that stood out the most for me was the QOTR first-round Fatal Four-Way on Raw this week between Liv Morgan, Rhea Ripley, Roxanne Perez and Kairi Sane.
Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan continue to give us magic every time they step into the ring together, and Kairi Sane is beyond amazing. The wild card here is that Roxanne Perez is trying to worm her way into The Judgment Day, likely with Finn Balor’s influence and guidance.
The match itself not only gave us incredible wrestling, but it advanced the storyline of Liv and Roxanne. Despite Roxanne claiming to want to work together with Liv, and the two showing off some excellent teamwork, Roxanne stole the win away from Liv and went to celebrate backstage with the rest of Judgment Day before being caught by Liv walking up.
This match not only delivered on the wrestling itself, but seamlessly pushed the story forward backstage as well.
One Moment
Bayley’s surprise return on Raw, and subsequent beatdown of Becky Lynch was the only moment I could pick. I’ve been waiting for Bayley to return since losing her WrestleMania spot. Even Lyra Valkyria seemed caught off guard in the moment.
There’s a lot being made of Lyra’s reaction to seeing Bayley standing up looking strong in her return. While I’m sure she’s glad to see her friend back, she may have just realized that Bayley is the one standing between her and her hope of regaining the Women’s Intercontinental title.
One Promo
I was tempted to give this one to Ron Killings, but NXT definitely takes the edge with the Blake Monroe, FKA Mariah May, promo vignette.
Say what you want about her name change, Blake Monroe is The Glamour and it’s giving Sabrina Carpenter.
We’re all ready to run on Monroe Minutes after that fantastic, true introduction into the newest face of the NXT brand (and I’m sure soon, the whole of WWE).
Her run in AEW was fantastic, and her feud with Toni Storm was damn near perfection. Her debut in NXT is the best thing to happen to the brand since Giulia and Stephanie reunited in the ring, and I’m sure it won’t be long before she’s holding the women’s title.
Honorable Mention
There’s so much more I want to give shoutouts to: Karrion Kross congratulating Sami backstage, Ron Killings attacking John Cena twice, Cody winning his fatal four way.
The next best thing was Liv Morgan hitting ObLIVion on a returning Nikki Bella. After losing her fatal four way, Liv came out angry as can be at being overlooked during Nikki Bella’s shoutouts, and that passion just works so well for her character. And seeing her crouched over Nikki Bella after baiting her into the ring?
Liv Morgan may just have the best character work in WWE right now.
